OMG!!! seriously it's so typical korean (bubbles will know what i mean)... and yet, so very current. in tune with the whole hip-hop culture that seemingly attacking the babies of the 1990s. totally in the same vein as all the dance/romance movies that have been coming out. step up, step up 2 the streets, save the last dance etc. i must say seeing them perform those breakdancing move up close (well not very close) was even more fantastic than just catching them on reel!
the performance was definitely highly energetic, superb moves executed by the talented cast members. they are from the Gorilla dance crew. whereas the breakdancing moves were hard, it was nicely countered with the softness and exactness of ballet. the ballet ladies were graceful and feminine, and that was in further contrast to the sexy, gyrating moves of the ladies from the hip-hop camp. the performance was kinda like that of 'save the last dance' - hardcore b-boy falling in love with gentle ballerina, rich bad guy tries to steal her away, they battle and b-boy and his crew wins! and then at the end they resolve their differences. don't we all just love a happy ending!!
at the end of the performance, and because we were SUCH great audience, the performers decided to give us a little more flava and did impromptu breakdancing! which i think soooo totally made MY NIGHT. even if i had to sit thru the damn performance in pain, i'd gladly do it again man! hooray for korean b-boys man!
